Summer skies // Italian holiday // Part 1

Skies // Calabria //Italy
Lots of summer skies from our holiday in southern Italy. Most of the above were taken from the terrazza of my parents house. They live in an apartment on the 4th floor of a building very close to the beach and the view is amazing. You can see the entire Gulf of Squillace, and on a clear day you can easily spot the farthest southern end. I will never have enough of this view and it is one of the things I miss the most.

It’s week 34 and we are back to normality again! September is in the air, it’s getting chilly in the early mornings and evenings, and the days are visibly shrinking. But the memory of the past holidays is slowly fading away, it feels like it’s time to plan our next one already!
this is you trying to escape carrying a toothbrush and toothpaste

This week you:

  • Returned to your daily routine with no effort, after two weeks of “no rules”!
  • Started saying “cla-cla” when asking for acqua (water).
  • Started saying ‘Oh no!” with a funny voice everytime you dropped something on the floor.
  • Had two of the canines out, only 6 teeth to go and we are done.
  • Learned to do a fake smile, and it’s funnier than your authentic (and beautiful) smile!
From last week loved this underwater face from the bostrom blog, and the so many beautiful pictures.

It’s week 33 and also the last of our summer holiday in Italy! We enjoyed it ’till the last minute and made the most of it. Italy we miss you already.
This week you:
  • Loved running around your grandparents house. And you were amazed at all the space you had and the new things you discovered.
  • Finally tried ice cream and you sort of liked it, but preferred eating just the cone.
  • Learned to say ‘no’, but you say it in such a cute way that we laugh every time.
  • Played with the potty just for fun, but you did understand what it was for as you started making funny noises while seating on it.
  • Finally enjoyed playing on the beach, walking on the shore and swimming in the sea. We had so much fun together.
  • Had a ‘pizzella’ (small round pizza) and plums for a mid morning snack every day at the beach. And you loved it!

From last week loved Jessica’s face from Yellow Finch Design, so cheeky!

The Phone Photography Project // Part 4

And I finally made it to Day 32! I deliberately decided to wait for this last set of pictures to include some of the shots from our trip to Switzerland and then Southern Italy. This project has been awesome. It has been great to capture so many aspects of our summer and to learn to give a bit more thought when using my Iphone. And I loved looking at how other people interpreted the same subject and their way of taking pictures. And lots of phoneography tips have now become a habit for me…so glad my interest in photography is surfacing again.
I’m planning to print both text and pictures and use them in my soon to come ‘Hello Summer’ mini book or maybe a stand-alone booklet. So many ideas are flying into my head right now…hopefully September will help me decide.

32/52

This week 32 it’s our holiday week and we are loving it! But we are still waiting for dad to join us.
This week you:
  • Smiled with disbelief when you saw your grandparents at the airport.
  • Refused to touch the sand with your feet on our first trip to the beach. But it’s getting better.
  • Loved watching your uncle Dani making sand castles.
  • Went to bed way past your usual bedtime hour (11pm!)
  • But slept on average 3 hours in the afternoon.
  • Preferred eating cucumber rather than ice cream! Sometimes I wonder if you really are our child!
  • Discovered the salty water of the sea!
From last week’s portraits, I enjoyed Chloe’s feet from she rhymes with crazy, and her mama’s tip and trick for washing her hair!
